Nearly 100 Rohingya refugees from Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, reached the shores of Sumatra Island in Indonesia’s Aceh State, after enduring a harrowing sea journey. Among those who arrived were 37 men, 46 women, and 7 children, each with a story of resilience and tragedy. The perilous trip proved fatal for six individuals who lost their lives before reaching safety.
Rohingya youth activist, Maung Hla Myint expressed his concern on this issue is that we, young generation’s future sought is also a part of deaths everywhere. Today it seems like that we Rohingya belong to nowhere as we face deaths wherever we go.
The plight of the Rohingya remains one of the most severe humanitarian crises of our time. Fleeing relentless persecution and violence at the hands of the Arakan Army and the Myanmar military, Rohingya people are forced to risk their lives on treacherous waters. These actors bear direct responsibility for the widespread suffering and the untold losses of life.
The international community’s silence and inaction are contributing to the continuation of these atrocities. Human rights organizations, global leaders, and powerful nations must step forward to end the persecution of the Rohingya people, ensuring their safety, dignity, and right to live without fear.
One of the humanitarian workers name as Soyedul Amin added that there are more than 1 million Rohingya refugees that don’t see future in this congested camp where the opportunity and facilities to make better future. So people are taking the risky journey to make their future.
For the Rohingya, each passing day brings more loss and despair. It is time to take decisive action, to stand with the Rohingya, and to bring an end to this cycle of violence and displacement. The world can no longer look away.
